TriOrb Selected for NEDO’s Deep Tech Support Program STS Phase

We are pleased to announce that TriOrb has been selected in the 4th call for the 2024 NEDO Deep Tech Startup Support Program (STS Phase), organized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

This recognition comes as a result of strong interest from over 10 companies, which submitted Letters of Interest (LOI) in support of our project. We will strive to meet these expectations by accelerating our business and focusing on the commercialization of our technology. Together with our partner companies, we aim for sustainable growth and the successful societal implementation of innovative technologies.

About the NEDO DTSU Program

The NEDO Deep Tech Startup Support Project (DTSU) aims to accelerate the commercialization and social implementation of cutting-edge technologies developed by deep tech startups. By supporting a wide range of research and development activities with a long-term vision, the project also seeks to increase private investment in these startups and help them grow their businesses.

Project Overview

• Project Title: Realization of a Flexible Production System Using High-Precision Omnidirectional AMR
• Project Period: September 11, 2024 – End of September 2026
• Maximum Grant: 500 million yen
• Partner VC: The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners (UTEC)

Project Goals and Social Impact

This project focuses on the development of a high-precision omnidirectional AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) utilizing TriOrb BASE technology. It aims to create flexible production lines that enhance automation and cost competitiveness in the manufacturing sector. The project promises the following transformative impacts:

• Reduction of Labor Burdens: By automating simple and auxiliary tasks, we aim to reduce worker fatigue and allow workers to focus on higher-value tasks.
• Promotion of Sustainable Manufacturing: The introduction of flexible production systems will reduce waste and support sustainable manufacturing processes, thereby lowering environmental impact.
• Acceleration of Digital Transformation: By integrating with Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), we aim to accelerate digital transformation across the manufacturing industry.
• Revitalization of Regional Economies: The introduction of new manufacturing technologies will help improve factory efficiency, contributing to the revitalization of local industries.

Future Development

• With the support of NEDO, TriOrb will accelerate the following initiatives:
• Advanced Technology Development: We will enhance our high-precision omnidirectional mobility and fleet control technologies to develop more efficient and flexible transport solutions.
• Strengthening Partnerships: We will collaborate with partner companies to conduct proof-of-concept trials for flexible production systems, incorporating valuable feedback for the practical application of our technology.
• Talent Expansion: We plan to actively recruit R&D talent to further drive our innovations.
• International Expansion: While establishing our technology in the domestic market, we will also accelerate our expansion into international manufacturing markets.
• Exploring New Markets: We aim to broaden the application of our flexible manufacturing solutions to other sectors, tapping into new business opportunities.

Key Areas of Focus for Technology Development

• Fleet Control Technology: We will develop and commercialize a fleet management system that meets real-world requirements, supporting collaborative operations of multiple robots in production environments.
• Integration with Manufacturing Robots: By strengthening the collaboration between our mobile platforms and manufacturing robots, we aim to realize seamless automation between different production stages.
• Advanced Sensing Technology: We will enhance environmental recognition capabilities and integrate with other production equipment to create a more intelligent next-generation platform.
